I took this picture on January 14th using auto. I started editing it and doing all the steps but started over like 2 or 3 times.
The first thing I did was make a new document (Ctrl+N) and make 4 different versions of Ricardo / Scott using the type tool (T). Then I turned them into stamps by clicking Edit, Define Brush Preset. When I started editing the actual picture I went to Select, Color Range and picked Shadows. I made that into a new layer (Ctrl+J). After that I went back to the origional picture and went to Select, Color Range again, this time picking Midtones. This time I had to use the Quick Selection Tool (W) and get rid of some parts that didn't need to be selected. Again I made it into a new layer. After that, I clicked on the midtones layer and went to Edit, Fill and picked 50% grey. Then I clicked on the shadows layer and did Edit, Fill again, this time picking black. Both times I had the preserve trancperancy box checked. After that was done, I used the Eraser tool (E) to get rid of some extra spots I didn't want (that was part of what made me start over before) and then merged the shadows and midtones layers together. Then I had to make a new layer and fill it with white )Ctrl+Backspace). Then I started using the brushes, I would pick one and edit it a little by scattering and spreading the names (F5). After I stamped my name on there, I made a new layer, filled it with white and dragged it above the midtones/shadows layer. I selected all of it (Ctrl+A) and copied it (Ctrl+C). I went back to the layer with the stamps on it and made a layer mask. I held Alt and clicked on the mask, then pasted my picture into there (Ctrl+V). I deselected it (Ctrl+D) and then (Ctrl+I) to invert it. Then I did some more painting on there with the brushes. Finally, I added a gradient overlay fx and spent a day picking colors, then picked darker color.
At first I didn't like this assignment but now I like it more. I think it turned out ok.
